My musical journey has been a lifelong process of learning, performing, experimenting and developing — both as a musician and as a teacher.
I have been playing piano and flute, as well as singing, since childhood, and have been teaching since 2006. I trained as a classroom music teacher before going on to specialise in piano, keyboard and vocal teaching.
Over the years, I have performed in a wide variety of musical settings, from orchestras, wind bands and choirs to ska and reggae bands, jazz groups and contemporary line-ups. I have also written my own music and am still actively developing my sound, continually exploring new ideas and developing my skills as a musician.
Growing up, I also studied dance, and as a young adult I fell in love with flamenco. It has since played an important role in my understanding of rhythm, movement and musical expression. I have studied flamenco in the UK, Spain and Cuba, experiences which have broadened my musical perspective and approaches to rhythm and performance.
All of these experiences have shaped who I am as both a musician and a teacher. For me, music is about much more than simply learning to play an instrument. It is about connection — with ourselves, with other people, with our community and with the music we create. It can also provide a space for reflection, self-expression and exploration.
I currently teach students across Coventry and Warwickshire, as well as online, working with people at different stages of their musical journey.
There is always more to learn, explore and create — and my journey as both a musician and teacher continues.
